I wrote my account of my weight loss struggles in an earlier post, and how I overcame them by using the Burn The Fat System designed by Ton Venuto. Some readers have asked me for more of an in-depth review of it, and I’m happy to oblige since it provided the breakthrough I really needed to burn fat and lose weight.

One of the exciting things about “Burn The Fat”, that really sets it apart from most weight loss programs, is that you’re shown how to get your body to burn fat long after you’ve stopped exercising. The difference this makes is huge, because it drastically cuts the amount of time you need to get great results. I don’t know about your situation, but I’m not one who has lots of time available to exercise!

How does it work? Well, this is one of the critical secrets of the Burn The Fat system. Tom Venuto teaches you how to “stoke up” your metabolism “fire,” which is done by building lean muscle through specialised exercise sessions.

The cool thing about this type of exercise program is that it meant I could drop my long boring cardio routines, which weren’t getting me great results anyway! Tom’s “Burn The Fat” guide is 300 pages (17 chapters) of great info on how to burn fat lose weight, and gain lean muscle. I found it to be well written and very detailed, and despite it having 300 pages, it isn’t too long, as you don’t need to read every page, from start to finish, before applying Tom’s secrets.

Tom explains why this fat burning system works so well. Basically, when you increase the amount of lean muscle in your body (which makes both men and women look better) your body burns more calories to maintain muscle rather than fat. So, your RMR (resting metabolic rate) is increased which means that your body is burning calories faster, day and night. Even while your resting and sitting you’re burning many more calories per day than you were previously.

This is not just a theory. It’s backed up by real scientific evidence, and I can personally attest to that from my own fat burning results. There’s also another way you burn more calories with this method which I’ll tell you about, but first I want to put to rest any fears that women may have about using weights. I was first a little apprehensive about using weights since I thought I might end up looking like some freaky looking muscle bound female bodybuilder. I can assure you this won’t happen, not with the way we use weights and also, we don’t have the levels of testosterone that the guys have. We just become trimmer, and slimmer looking, which is just what we want. The extra strength is just another bonus for our overall health.

Anyway, the other way you burn more calories is due to the fact that your muscles need to be repaired by your body. Do I mean we’ve damaged them? No. When we use weights to the point where we can’t do any more, your body spends the next couple of days repairing the muscles used, which makes them stronger. This means that your body is burning extra calories in this “repair process” for up to 72 hours after your exercise session. I love that, and I look so much better for having become leaner.

Now, I can hear some of you asking, “What about nutrition and diet? Surely that’s a very important part of the weight loss equation.” You’re right, and Burn The Fat doesn’t disappoint in this area. Tom Venuto has devoted a large portion of the book to this aspect of this fat loss system. Tom is an expert in this field and goes into great detail on all aspects of nutrition. By supplying the essentials of good eating, which isn’t difficult or unpleasant, you’ll find you enjoy eating less of the bad foods.

Tom also promotes the proven metabolism boosting practice of eating smaller quantities, but more frequently. This is the same principle as dropping smaller pieces of wood onto a fire to keep it continually burning well, as opposed to throwing a large log on the fire less frequently. We all know which works better. There are no fad diets promoted in the BTF program. I’m not into fad diets, and Tom isn’t either.
